Strengthening tobacco control partnerships in Cambodia
In January 2026, ImagineLaw convened a three-day strategic meeting and planning workshop in Phnom Penh, Cambodia under the RISE v. Tobacco project, in cooperation with Cambodia's National Center for Health Promotion of the Ministry of Health. The workshop was part of an initiative to address Cambodia's tobacco control enforcement challenges and tobacco industry interference despite having strong tobacco control laws aligned with the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
Together with representatives from government and civil society, the workshop focused on strengthening stakeholder collaboration, enhancing safeguards against industry interference, and building capacity in policy implementation as well as monitoring and evaluation.
Through workshop sessions and action planning, participants identified implementation policy gaps and developed concrete strategies that complement Cambodia’s draft national tobacco control strategic plan. The initiative strengthened collaboration between government and civil society and helped advance efforts to protect Cambodians from the harms of tobacco.
