ImagineLaw Showcases RESET Alcohol Policy Innovation at the 8th Global Alcohol Policy Conference

ImagineLaw Executive Director Atty. Sophia Monica San Luis represented the RESET Alcohol Project at the 8th Global Alcohol Policy Conference (GAPC 2026) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from April 8 to 10.

GAPC, the leading forum for international alcohol policy makers, advocates, and practitioners, offered the opportunity to engage in discussions centering around the development of alcohol control policies and strategies while sharing success stories from around the world.

During her session, San Luis presented “Developing a Best-Practice Model Ordinance on Alcohol Harms Prevention.” The presentation highlighted ImagineLaw’s collaborative approach in working with local governments, civil society organizations, and the medical community in strengthening alcohol policies in the Philippines.

Central to the presentation was the organization’s process of assessing existing local ordinances and interventions, and aligning them with global best practices, particularly those outlined in the World Health Organization’s SAFER Initiative. These efforts have led to the development of a model alcohol control ordinance designed to be adaptable and scalable to meet the specific needs of different local government units.

The RESET Alcohol Project aims to integrate best-practice strategies for preventing alcohol harms into both national and local governance. By promoting evidence-based policies, the initiative seeks to improve public health outcomes and reduce the burden of alcohol-related harm across the country.
