Communities lead the fight against excess sodium

Patients and communities are stepping up against excessive sodium intake with the founding of the Patient CARE Network (Patients and Communities Advocating for the Reduction of Excess Sodium).

Launched with Kidney Alliance Philippines, Inc. and Dialysis PH Support Group, Inc. as founding members, the Network unites patient voices to highlight the lived experiences of those most affected by diet-related diseases such as hypertension, heart disease, and chronic kidney disease.

Apart from patient groups, it also aims to strengthen partnership with medical societies and government agencies for the advancement of sodium reduction and reformulation efforts, as well as promotion of healthy diets and active lifestyle.

Regular activities such as capacity-strengthening sessions, public forums, and storytelling campaigns will also be organized to foster engagement and ensure patients remain at the heart of healthy food environment initiatives.
