LGUs gear up for Healthy Public Food Procurement
Local governments are taking decisive steps to make healthier food environments a reality through the Healthy Public Food Procurement (HPFP) policy.
In Cavite, city and municipal staff were oriented on the policy’s rationale and best practices among LGUs, laying the groundwork for improved procurement standards. In Baguio City, supply and procurement officers underwent intensive training to integrate nutrition standards into their processes. In Zamboanga, a training for LGUs for the adoption of the HPFP playbook was conducted for the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay.
These activities mark the beginning of a broader effort to ensure that public institutions serve food that supports health and well-being. With technical assistance and upcoming training for food suppliers, LGUs are gearing up to fully implement the policy and set an example for healthier procurement nationwide.
